The Cincinnati Chess Club presents the 2026 City Championship.
This six-week tournament begins on August 6, 2026, with one game held each Thursday night.
Tournament Schedule:
- Round 1: August 6
- Round 2: August 13
- Round 3: August 20
- Round 4: August 27
- Round 5: September 3
- Round 6: September 10
Location & Logistics:
- Venue: Francis Healy Community Center, 7640 Plainfield Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45236.
- Time Control: G/120; d5.
- Start Time: All games begin promptly at 7:00 PM.
- Eligibility: The City Champion must reside in the Greater Cincinnati Area to have their name engraved on the historic City Championship Trophy
Chess Club will provide chess sets and clocks for players in the Open Section. Players in the U1600 Section must bring their own chess set and chess clock.
Registration & Sections:
- Online entry only
- Entry Fees: $55 for Members / $60 for Non-members.
- Sections: Open and U1600.
- Prize Fund: 70% of entry fees will be returned as prizes.
Attendance & Bye Policy:
- Round 1 Bye: Must be requested by August 5 at 7:00 PM via text to the TD.
- Late registration with a round 1 half point bye is available until August 12 at 7 PM.
- Future Byes: All other bye requests must be submitted before Round 2 begins on August 13.
- No-Show Policy: If you do not notify the TD by 6:00 PM on game day, you will forfeit the round, be withdrawn from the tournament, and lose your entry fee.
Prize Money: 70% of the prize money will be distributed as prizes. Prize money distribution will be done typically through Zelle or Check.

During tournament days, casual chess may be held at basement of Deer Park Municipal Building (7777 Blue Ash Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45236). Please check with TD for timings.
