Announcing the 2024 Club Championship
Greg ArnoldThe 2024 Club Championship starts on Friday, May 3rd and continues for the following five weeks with one game per night.
The format is slightly different this year - there are six rounds instead of five. However, every entrant must select one zero-point bye round. This allows you to fit the championship into your schedule easier. You may request an additional half-point bye - the first round will be a zero-point bye, and the second one will be half a point. For an additional bye, please contact the TD before 6:00 P.M. on May 15th.
As a reminder, it will be played in the Municipal Building Basement, 7777 Blue Ash Road. Simply go through the doors that say "Use other door after 4 P.M.", turn right, and go down the stairs.
The entry fee is $30, and CCC membership and a USCF membership are both required. Registration is on-site on May 3rd from 6:15 to 6:45 P.M., or you can register online below. Please register early if you can - it really helps get the first round started on time. Players may enter before round two is paired - the first round will be your mandatory zero-point bye.
There are 2 sections, Open and Under 1400/Unrated. You may play up. Time control is G/90;d5. Games start at 7:00 p.m. each week - clocks will start on time.
Pairings for each round after the first will be announced on the Wednesday evening prior to the round. If you cannot make a round, please try to notify the TD before 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday so we can avoid unnecessarily having players without an opponent. Players who forfeit rounds will be withdrawn from the tournament (and entry fees will not be refunded) - talk to TD for extenuating circumstances.
80% of entry fees will be returned as prizes - first place will be decided by our tie-break methods.
